When Man Muang's uncle passed away, Sukkawong, a young nobleman goes to his kingdom to attend the funeral. He falls in love with his beautiful niece at the first sight. But she does not like him because he allows foreigners into his kingdom. Man Muang also has a stepsister, Ming La, the daughter of her father and her aunt, who doesn't want Man Muang to be better known than her daughter. So she always forces her to do everything for Ming La. When Ming La sees Sukkawong, she falls for him. Knowing that Ming La likes Sukkawong, Man Muang steps back. Later, a king from another kingdom asks for Ming La's hand in marriage. Their father agree so that they could have a stronger alliance and, in order to strengthen it even more, they also want Man Muang to get married to Sukkawong. That’s how the “Tales of the two cities” goes.
