JKN GLOBAL UNVEILS AMBITIOUS DIGITAL CHANNELS STRATEGY FOR THAILAND
Thailand’s JKN Global Media has sealed a slew of alliances to drive an ambitious new domestic digital multi-channels strategy. Content-supply partners for five linear streaming channels include Zee Entertainment, TV18/Viacom18 joint venture IndiaCast Media Distribution, and Disney’s Star India. The fifth licensing deal is with business channel CNBC. The new services will all stream on JKN-owned OTT platform Bflix, followed by windows on digital terrestrial, VOD, and basic cable/satellite in Thailand, with some rights for other markets in the region. Channels include the co-branded JKN-Zee Magic, a linear service for traditional pay-TV and streaming platforms. JKN-Zee Magic, which launches commercially on 1 January 2019, airs Thai-dubbed versions of titles such as “Buddha”, “Jodha Akbar” and “Ganga”. A Philippines channel, JKN Mabuhay, goes live on 1 April 2019, along with the Star India-driven service, JKN Namaste. JKN’s long-term agreements also include exclusive rights to India’s Colors TV content dubbed in Thai. The Colors titles will stream on the digital channel in Thailand, scheduled to launch in 2019, as well as platforms in Taiwan and Hong Kong. JKN has distributed Indian content in Thailand for the past five years, and the decision to launch dedicated digital channels was an extension of strong performance in the market, says JKN Global chief executive, Anne Jakrajutatip.
